  10. 1992: John joined CIA & was selected for our Career Training Program. 1993: he was assigned to the DA as an economic analyst.

  11. John majored in Int’l Econ & was involved in service orgs 1991: he was 1st person in his family to graduate collage.

  12. John was born in the Bronx & grew up in CT. A strong leader he was president. He graduated w honors in 1987.

  14. During the course of the war, ~400 Navajos participated in code talker program.

  15. Battle of Iwo Jima: 6 Code Talkers operated continuously & sent more than 800 messages - all transmitted without error.

  16. Code Talkers were used in every major operation in Pacific theater. Primary job: transmit tactical info over telephone & radio.

  17. The initial code consisted of 211 vocabulary terms, which expanded to 411 over the course of the war.

  18. recruits began developing the code by taking words from their language & applying them to implements of war.

  19. language was a perfect option as a code because it was not written & very few people who aren’t of Navajo origin can speak it
