January 22 & 23
Trinity Institute’s 39th National Theological Conference, Radical Abundance: A Theology of Sustainability, via webcast.
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, 1535 NE 17th Ave., Portland. Presented by Grace Memorial Episcopal, this year’s conference will explore the theological basis for reimagining abundance measured not by consumer satisfaction but by just and sustainable relations with nature and communities. The conference will include keynote speakers, panel discussions and facilitated breakout groups. Among the local organizations co-sponsoring this event is EMO. The registration deadline is Jan. 16, 2009. The registration fee for the conference is $40. If your church or organization is a member of EMO, please indicate this information on the registration form when you send it to Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, and you will receive a 50 percent discount on the price of the conference. You can receive a copy of the brochure and form by calling Grace Memorial at (503) 287-0418. Copies of the brochure are also available at EMO’s office. Lunch is available both Thursday and Friday for $10 per day. Interfaith Service: "Power of Reconciliation." 4 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 2710 NE 14th Ave., Portland. Sponsored by the Interfaith Council of Greater Portland (ICGP), the theme of the 2008-09 series of interfaith services highlights the transformative power of religion in the world. Services are held on Sundays at 4 p.m., from September through May, at a different location each month. EMO is a member of ICGP.

February 19
Interfaith Advocacy Day. 9 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 790 Marion St. NE, Salem. When the Oregon Legislative Assembly convenes in 2009, will the 2008 election translate into lawmakers supporting economic fairness and stability? Find out at the 2009 Interfaith Advocacy Day. The event will include worship, advocacy training, keynote addresses from community and political leaders, meetings with lawmakers, and prayer and reflection. After lunch, participants will march to the Capitol where they will be greeted by a legislators. Following this reception in the Capitol Galleria, participants will then make visits to lawmakers. March 4, 2009
Interfaith Energy and Climate Stewardship Advocacy Day. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Willamette University in Salem. This event will bring a moral voice to energy and global warming policy at a critical time. Workshops and keynotes will be held in the morning, and legislative visits will occur in the afternoon. For more information or to be a cosponsor, call (503) 221-1054.

March 15
