Commercial Operations Director, North America

OCO Global, a leading economic development advisory firm, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to lead, grow and manage the New York based team.

OCO Global has over 50 employees across 4 offices in Belfast, London, New York, and Paris. Clients include economic development organizations, international organizations and multinational corporations that offer a range of advisory services and economic development solutions including strategy development, investor targeting and training.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer based in Northern Ireland, the Commercial Operations Director, North America, is central to the continued growth and success of OCO in the US and Canada. This role will require a person with strong leadership skills and a good understanding of what it takes to manage a successful team.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development of the strategic plan for OCO North America.
  • Responsibility for the P&L for the North American operation including overall revenue target and management of all associated running costs.
  • Responsible for day to day running of the operation including all local compliance issues and management of corporate service providers and sub-contractors.
  • Lead business development activities including development of an annual sales and account management strategy.
  • Account management of selected major US clients in conjunction with CCO and CEO.
  • Overall quality assurance and client satisfaction. Ensure projects are delivered on time, to requisite standard and within budget.
  • Provide contributions and take responsibility for selected FDI and Trade project deliverables where appropriate. In particular, the role will involve contact and relationship leverage with senior decision makers in significant US companies to influence their investment location strategy.
  • Contribute to the sales strategy for Velociti – OCO’s new flagship product – and ensure effective promotion in the US marketplace.
  • Extend and strengthen OCO’s network with overseas investors, economic developers and associated stakeholders.
  • Contribute to other corporate initiatives including the thought leadership agenda.

The Person

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 7 years senior operational management experience gained in an economic development or management consultancy context.
  • A strong commercial focus, with proven experience in contracts and tendering.
  • Be results driven and have a track record of success.
  • Ability to build and maintain customer and stakeholder relationships.
  • A strong network/client base within economic development and/or leading North American corporations.
  • Experience of project management and evidence of successful project delivery.
  • International experience of supporting a diverse set of clients from overseas as well as North America.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Should have the legal right to work in the US.

Regular travel within and outside the US is a feature of this role.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required; supplemented by seven years of progressively responsible experience in economic development and in a supervisory/management capacity.A Master's Degree is preferred.

COMPENSATION

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
