The United States strongly condemns the horrific and indiscriminate attacks on September 3 on the central market and residential neighborhood of Kerawa, Cameroon, and the September 1 attacks on two villages in the Damboa Local Government Area in Borno State, Nigeria that killed more than two dozen civilians. We extend our condolences to the families and loved ones of all those killed, and hope for the speedy recovery of those injured.

Boko Haram's indiscriminate targeting of men, women and children continues to highlight the group's senseless brutality. We remain committed to working closely with Cameroon, Nigeria, and the other Lake Chad Basin countries to defeat Boko Haram. http://go.usa.gov/3Mrxx

"Even before the ink on the agreement was dry -- we started being bombarded by myths about what the agreement will and won’t do and that bombardment continues today." - Secretary of State John Kerry debunks myths about the ‪#‎IranDeal‬

"The fact is that it wasn’t either sanctions or threats that actually stopped and finally stopped the expansion of Iran’s nuclear activities. The sanctions brought people to the table, but it was the start of the negotiating process and the negotiations themselves recently concluded in Vienna that actually stopped it. Only then did Iran begin to get rid of its stockpile of 20% enriched uranium. Only then did it stop installing more centrifuges and cease advancing the Arak reactor. Only then did it commit to be more forthcoming about IAEA access..." - Secretary of State John Kerry on the ‪#‎IranDeal‬

"Because of all these limitations and guarantees, we can sum up by saying that without this agreement, the Iranians would have several potential pathways to a bomb; with it, they won’t have any." - U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on the ‪#‎IranDeal‬

"Sanctions alone were not getting the job done. They were failing to slow, let alone halt, Iran’s relentless march toward a nuclear weapons capability. So President Obama acted. He reaffirmed his vow that Iran absolutely would not be permitted to have a nuclear weapon. He marshaled support for this principle from every corner of the international community." - Secretary of State John Kerry on the ‪#‎IranDeal‬

"Two months ago, in Vienna, the United States and five other nations -- including the permanent members of the UN Security Council -- reached agreement with Iran on ensuring the peaceful nature of that country’s nuclear program." - Secretary of State John Kerry on the ‪#‎IranDeal‬

"If these trend lines continue the way they are there's not going to be a nation on this earth that's not impacted negatively. Entire nations will find themselves under severe problems: more drought, more floods, rising sea levels, greater migration, more refugees, more scarcity, more conflict. That's one path we can take. The other path is to embrace the human ingenuity that can do something about it.

This is within our power. This is a solvable problem - if we start now."- President Obama on the reasons why the ‪#‎Arctic‬ and ‪#‎climatechange‬ are concerns for all nations and the need to work together to address these challenges now, at the ‪#‎GLACIER‬ conference in Anchorage, Alaska, August 31, 2015.

"There doesn't have to be a conflict between a sound environment and strong economic growth - but we're not moving fast enough.

Can we really afford to prioritize this issue? The irony is that few things will disrupt our lives as profoundly as ‪#‎climatechange‬. Few things can have as negative an impact on our economy as climate change." President Obama speaking to foreign ministers and attendees about the urgency of working together to address challenges of #climatechange and the ‪#‎Arctic‬ at the ‪#‎GLACIER‬ conference in Anchorage, Alaska, August 31, 2015.

"Climate change is a trend that affects all trends - economic trends, security trends, everything will be impacted and more dramatic each year. --The fact is that climate is changing faster than our efforts to address it - that must change."-President Obama speaking at the closing session of the ‪#‎GLACIER‬ conference in Anchorage, Alaska, August 31, 2015.

We are not going to be able to solve these challenges by ourselves we can only solve them together. --This once distant threat is now very much in the present - the ‪#‎Arctic‬ is the leading edge of climate change. -President Obama speaking at the closing session of the ‪#‎GLACIER‬ conference in Anchorage, Alaska, August 31, 2015.
