Animal Shelter
The Lampasas Animal Shelter is a collaborative effort between the City of Lampasas and the County of Lampasas for the housing of stray and unwanted animals. The Lampasas Animal Shelter is an open admission facility. This means we accept every animal from Lampasas County regardless of health, age, breed or temperament. We strive to assist the participating entities in enforcing the state law and local ordinances, and to otherwise serve our citizens.
What the Department Provides to the City
Since our opening in September of 2009, the shelter has been providing services such as:
• Stray admission
• Owner surrender admission
• Lost pet reclaims
• Pet adoption
• Education to the public regarding animal health and the benefits of spay/neuter.
All animal control calls and complaints must be dispatched from either the Lampasas Police Department or the Lampasas Sheriff’s Office. All employees at the shelter are licensed Animal Control Officers that can answer basic law and ordinance questions but we do not respond to animal control calls or complaints.
Our Commitment to the Community
Our mission is to provide a safe and healthy environment for stray animals awaiting return to their homes, and to offer adoptable animals an opportunity for placement into permanent, responsible, and safe homes where they are valued.
The Officers of the Lampasas Animal Shelter
The Lampasas Animal Shelter is staffed by two full time certified animal control officers and one part time certified animal control officer.
