Animal Control
About the Division
The Animal Control Division is dedicated to providing, prompt, courteous and professional services for the citizens of Lampasas. We encourage responsible pet ownership by field enforcement services, assisting with licensing programs, and educational programs. Our primary goal is the prevention and eradication of rabies by education of the public concerning local and state laws, promoting animal owner responsibility, and by protecting the public from stray or dangerous animals. Our secondary goal is to provide service to the public and animals through impound of stray animals and other animal related calls, issuing warnings or citations as necessary, investigation and prosecution of animal cruelty and abuse cases.

The Animal Control division consists of one certified Animal Control Officer. The Animal Control Officer is responsible for enforcing City ordinances and State laws related to animal control. The Lampasas Animal Control Officer's primary hours of operation are from 7:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Lampasas Police Department Patrol Officers and/or the Animal Control Officer also respond to emergencies after hours.
