Lufkin District Engineer

Cheryl P. Flood, P.E.

Cheryl P. Flood, P.E., is the district engineer for TxDOT's Lufkin District.

The district comprises nine counties: Angelina, Houston, Nacogdoches, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby and Trinity. Flood became district engineer in the Lufkin District effective August 2014.

Flood oversees the planning, designing, building, operation and maintenance of the state transportation system for the Lufkin District. She has served as the Lufkin District’s director of transportation planning and development since 2003.

Flood began her TxDOT career in 1982 as an engineering assistant in the Abilene District before moving to the Bryan District three years later. In 1986, Flood moved to the Lufkin District’s design office and, in 1993, she was promoted to area engineer. In 2003, she was promoted to director of transportation planning and development.

Flood was honored with the Luther DeBerry Award for outstanding contributions to Texas in the field of transportation. In 2013, she was inducted into the Civil and Environmental Engineering Academy at Texas Tech University.

A native of McAllen, Flood earned a bachelor's in civil engineering from Texas Tech University in 1982. She received her license as a professional engineer in 1987.
