New York City, NY | December 4, 2014

Angered over a Staten Island grand jury’s decision to not indict a NYC police officer, protesters, including the family of #ericgarner March across the Brooklyn Bridge.

Thousands of NYers turned out to protest in Foley Park across from One Police Plaza before splitting into several groups.

Highly aesthetic beach party Art Basel is happening down in Miami right now. We’re envious from our frigid perch in New York, yes, but mainly very psyched for all the Tumblr artists that are participating—just look at the petrified telephone of Daniel Arsham (danielarsham, top right) or the suave gentlemen of Richard Phillips (richardphillips, middle).

Besides all that, we:

  • Toasted Marina Abramovic (maihudson, top left) for being continually incredible, both at life and at Tumblr.
  • Are hosting a live IRL performance by TV on the Radio, and featuring an installation from Julian Gross (grossjulian, bottom). December 5th. Do come.

Special thanks to societeperrier and papermagazine for hanging out with us down there.

Another year on Tumblr, another collection of amazing, amazing things you made. It’s the 2014 Year in Review.
One month long. Hundreds of blogs. Thousands of posts. Trillions of notes. Literally trillions—probably!
Stuff you’ve never seen. Stuff you’ll be thrilled to see again. Stuff that made the internet what it was in 2014. New stuff every day. Follow it: the Year in Review.

Among today’s categories: actors, bands, dating blogs, sports, pretty colors. More every day from now until December 31.
Congrats to all the people who made it into this thing—actually, hey, congrats to everyone on Tumblr. It’s been a great year, and Tumblr wouldn’t be Tumblr without you.

It’s over.

It wasn’t a war or a fight. Those things have rules. This was more like Aaron getting in the ring with the Mohammed Ali of cancers, and smiling for round after round after he got his teeth knocked out and his face rearranged.

Ding.

One more heartbreak, today.

Nora’s been documenting Aaron’s tumor for two and a half years now. Beautifully, openly, sometimes lightly, always poignantly. As she puts it, “It’s not a cancer story, it’s a love story. With some cancer.” You can start that story from the beginning over here

Aaron passed away yesterday. Our condolences to all those he leaves behind. We’re in awe of your strength, and we’re grateful for this record of your love.

Meet Tumblr, the adoptable mutt. Look into her slightly worried and terribly intelligent eyes and feel your heart melt. Can you breathe? No. And that is Tumblr’s fault.

Tumblr is currently at New York’s Animal Haven, but she’d prefer to be at your house. If you have room in your life for a pet, you’re looking to adopt, and you’re a solidly responsible person, Tumblr (or another fine pup) could be yours.

The holidays are upon us, after all. If there’s a time to be generous with your heart, it’s now.
