The Center for Public Integrity’s national security coverage is focused broadly on accountability, like all of our work, but will frequently examine the process of military budgeting as well as the soundness of specific military programs. Our questions are simple: How are military funds — amounting to nearly half the discretionary federal budget — being spent? What influences those decisions? And, are soldiers getting what they need? In addition to publishing deep investigations, we will also write briefly about other defense and international affairs topics in postings under the heading, “Up in Arms.”
