How do I place an ad?
You can place a Classified ad in The Washington Post by using this web site. If you experience problems placing your ad, please contact us using one of the following methods:
By Phone:
To place, correct or cancel an ad, call 202-334-6200 (outside the Metro area: 866-350-9503).
Private party advertisers may use Visa, MasterCard or American Express to pay for Classified ads placed over the phone. Please have your credit card number and your card expiration date available when you call to place your ad.
By Fax:
Ads may be faxed to The Washington Post and must meet the following criteria:
- Copy must be typed (preferably in 14-point Arial)
- Copy must include company name, logo and/or point of contact.

What forms of payment do you accept?
Advertisers who have established commercial accounts with The Washington Post may order an ad against their commercial account. Advertisers without an established commercial account with The Washington Post may use Visa, MasterCard or American Express to pay for their Classified ads.

You can upload photos while you're ordering your ad. Don't worry if you don't have photos ready at that time?you can also upload them after you've placed your order by following the instructors in your order confirmation e-mail.

How can I update my ad once it has been placed?

Why didn't my ad appear online?
If you're placing a rental or car ad in print, it will typically appear online the day before your print ad is in the paper. For any other category of advertising, your ad will appear online on the same day as the print ad.
If your print ad is in the paper and you still do not see your ad online, please call:

Why doesn't the preview of my ad look correct?
The preview is not an exact replica of what appears in the paper. To get a closer approximation, you can request a proof online during the checkout process. If selected, a .PDF file will be automatically e-mailed to you once the ad has been reviewed and released by a Washington Post sales representative.
