Choreographer Vincent Paterson created defining moves for stars like Michael Jackson and Madonna, yet has remained off the public radar - by choice. The San Francisco Dance Film Festival will screen The Man Behind the Throne, an engaging documentary by Swedish director Kersti Grunditz that incorporates fascinating rehearsal footage from Paterson's private collection. The screening also includes STAND, a short doc about Krump in South Central LA. Mr. Paterson, dancers and directors will be in attendance at this screening, and we've got two pairs of tickets to give away!

KQED is a proud media sponsor of this year’s 18th annual Arab Film Festival in San Francicsco. The festival opens on Friday, October 10 with the San Francisco premiere of May in the Summer (2013,) Cherien Dabis' film about the familial and cultural conflicts that arise for a sophisticated New Yorker when she returns to her childhood home of Amman, Jordan for her wedding.
