Youngest House member: It feels good to get carded

By Zach DeRitis and Judy Kurtz

Rep. Patrick Murphy has no problem with folks requiring evidence of his age.

While being honored Tuesday night at the New Leaders Council’s (NLC) 40 Under 40 Awards at U Street’s Local 16 bar, the 29-year-old Florida Democrat cracked, “I’ll tell you, it felt good getting carded on the way up here.”

The youngest member of the 113th Congress is used to being on the receiving end of quips about his youthfulness, saying, “They joke and call me ‘the kid’ here and there, but I think it’s fun.”

Wrestler challenges 'The Barack' to get in the ring

By Judy Kurtz

WWE wrestler Kofi Kingston says President Obama has an open invitation to face off with him in the ring.

“Anytime he wants to show up on ‘Monday Night Raw,’ we would welcome him with open arms,” the wrestling champ says.

But Kingston — whose signature move is a little number called “Trouble in Paradise” — admits the president could make for a fierce competitor, saying, “I don’t know if I’d want to go toe-to-toe with Obama, he’s a tough dude. But you know I would definitely capitalize on the opportunity if I did get it.”

Hillary Clinton, Christie surge ahead in 2016 merchandise contest

By Judy Kurtz

altThey haven’t even thrown their hats into the ring, but Hillary Clinton and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie are leading the pack of 2016 contenders, if the number of user-created products on one website is any indication.

CafePress.com, which sells items designed by regular joes, including t-shirts, bumper stickers, and signs, says more folks have created Clinton and Christie 2016 gear than any other potential White House hopeful.

altThe former secretary of State — who has not announced any intention to run — smashes other potential Democratic candidates to smithereens on the site, with nearly 54,000 products tagged “Hillary 2016.”  Read more...

Launch date set for first 'inside account' of Clinton's tenure at State

By Julian Pecquet

What's being billed as the “first inside account” of Hillary Clinton's four-year tenure at the State Department will be officially launched next week.

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is hosting the launch of BBC State Department Correspondent Kim Ghattas's book, The Secretary: A Journey with Hillary Clinton from Beirut to the Heart of American Power, next Monday. Ghattas, who was born in Lebanon, has covered the State Department since 2008 after reporting from the Middle East for the BBC and the Financial Times.

The book offers a close-up view of Clinton's tenure amid growing speculation that she will run for president in 2016. Clinton's admirers point to the one million miles she's traveled and the 112 countries she's visited as proof of her tireless advocacy for U.S. interests, while her critics say she's achieved nothing of substance while bungling the response to last year's attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

Michelle Obama: President's gray hair comes from daughters

By Justin Sink

First lady Michelle Obama joked Tuesday that the president's rapidly graying hair came not from his high-pressure job, but from his two daughters' teenage years.

"He's a little gray -- people think the gray is from his job, it's from his children," Obama told "Good Morning America." "We'll see how that goes."

On Valentine's Day, the president joked that he was sad his girls were growing up and beginning to date.
