Kodak HD Theatre Links Your Images and HDTV

Wednesday January 14, 2009
Kodak HD TheatreKodak has introduced an impressive new way to show your photos and other media, such as YouTube videos, on your HDTV: the "Kodak HD Theatre" ($299 suggested retail). I had the opportunity to try out the HD Theatre at the recent Consumer Electronics Show, and was impressed with its features and ease of use. The HD Theatre provides wireless access to your photo, video, and music collections. It links to your laptop or PC, or accepts an SD card or USB link. When your photos are accessible, you can control and display them on your HDTV with the help of a simple wireless remote. Create slideshows, add music to slideshows, and show videos or YouTube videos by working through easy-to-follow menus with the wireless remote. -Fred Zahradnik- Image © Kodak

Send Photos Directly to the Web With the Wi-Fi Enabled Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G3

Monday January 12, 2009
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G3Sony introduced a new, Wi-Fi enabled point-and-shoot camera at the recent Consumer Electronics Show, the Cyber-shot DSC-G3 ($499 suggested retail). You can upload images or video clips directly from the camera to your preferred online photo-sharing site or blog. The camera's built-in Wi-Fi lets you send pictures any time you are within the range of a Wi-Fi hotspot. Advantages of this setup are speed and portability - you can have a photo published to the Web within minutes of taking it, with no computer needed. I tried the upload process, and it is not simple, but can be learned with a bit of practice and study time. The DSC-G3's touchscreen includes a menu system for selecting and uploading photos or videos. In addition to its Wi-Fi capability, the DSC-G3 creates beautiful photos, and includes features such as a 10.1 megapixel sensor, smile detection, anti-blur, and HDTV compatibility. -Fred Zahradnik- Image © Sony

Polaroid's 'Point, Shoot, and Print' is Back With the PoGo

Saturday January 10, 2009
Polaroid PoGo Instant CameraLAS VEGAS - Polaroid's famous "point, shoot, and print" capability is back, with the introduction of its new PoGo Instant Digital Camera here at CES. This compact camera has the technology from the Polaroid PoGo portable printer (introduced last year) built right in. The PoGo camera can create a 2x3-inch full color print within 40 seconds of the shot. Also, there's no ink to worry about or buy because the camera uses a special, patented, multi-layer paper ("ZINK" for zero ink). The prints are nice, but not top-quality, so check out print quality before you consider purchase. That said, unlike previous Polaroid shoot-and-print cameras, you can also store your images and have them printed via a high-quality service, so you can have it both ways. The PoGo is a terrific option for those who really need prints in the field. The PoGo is to be available in March at a suggested retail price of $199. Photo paper ten packs sell for $4.99 Features:
