Collaboration and Learning Commons

The Collaboration and Learning Commons (CLC) is the ideal place on campus to study in groups, create multi-media projects, record presentations, and more. The learning possibilities are endless at the CLC!

Location: Eagle Commons Library, Sycamore Hall

What Can You Do at the CLC?

  • Create and save study outlines for exams on the StarBoard interactive whiteboards.
  • Record a presentation in Room CLC 110A or 110B, retrieve the file and upload it to YouTube.
  • Record a practice presentation and review it to see how you can improve.
  • Import and edit image files for projects and presentations.
  • Edit audio files to embed in presentations.
  • Draw chemical structures and reactions on the whiteboards, and discuss them with your study group.
  • Take a virtual tour of a location you are studying with Google Earth.
  • We challenge you to come up with other learning possibilities and share them with us!

Interested in learning how to use the software or equipment in the CLC? Our reference staff offers On-Demand workshops for individuals and groups. Use this form to schedule a workshop.

CLC Instruction Rooms

  • We have two instruction rooms that can be reserved for two-hour increments for meetings, presentations, or group study.
  • UNT students, faculty and staff in groups of 2 - 16 people can make reservations up to 7 days in advance.

To make a reservation:

Features in both Rooms CLC110A and 110B:

  • Teaching station with PC.
  • Projector.
  • Projection screen.
  • Whiteboard.
  • Moveable chairs and tables for up to 16 people.
  • NCast presentation recorder - record and review presentations, and download the video file to your flash drive.

Hardware

  • Interactive Whiteboards: 2 stations where you can project from a PC, draw on the board, and save your results.
  • PCs: 13 workstations; 3 Dell laptops.
  • Macs: 2 workstations.
  • Scanners, copier and printers.

Software

A Few Samples:

  • Audacity: Import and edit audio files for your presentation.
  • Google Earth: Navigate the Earth and its oceans, create 3-D tours, and share maps with others.
  • SketchUp: Create 3-D models and integrate the models with Google Earth’s aerial photos and 3-D terrain.
  • Handbrake: Import and convert video files to digital files for presentations.
  • Microsoft Visio: Create drawings of flowcharts, electrical circuits, organizational charts, and more for your projects.
  • Photoshop CS5: Create images of any size; import, resize and edit images for presentations or projects.
