Graduation

Please submit questions through graduation@unt.edu; including both your name and student ID # will help ensure a speedy response.

After lots of hard work, graduation is quickly approaching for many of you. To graduate, you will need to complete the application steps listed below.

Applying for Graduation

It is the responsibility of the student to file the appropriate graduate degree applications with the Toulouse Graduate School. The application window will be open the same time registration for classes becomes available. (See deadlines below.) Your completed application will include:

  1. Graduation Application Login and apply to graduate online.
  2. Approved Degree Plan. If you do not have an approved Degree Plan on file with TGS upon applying for Graduation, processing of your application will be delayed until a Degree Plan is submitted by your academic department. You will be CC'd on any correspondence with your department regarding this issue; it is your responsibility to make sure that a plan is actually submitted to TGS.
  3. UNT Graduating Student Survey
  4. Survey of Earned Doctorates (Doctoral Students only). [Mac users:  Open the form in Adobe Acrobat and use the “save via email” link at the bottom.]

Your graduation application will only be accepted if you have a current 3.00 overall GPA.

Please do not submit more than one application per degree; if you need to make a correction or add information, please send a separate email to graduation@unt.edu.

If you are pursuing more than one degree, you will need to submit a separate application for each degree. The major you select on the application needs to match the degree you are seeking (for example, if you are in both a PhD program and an MS program and are applying to graduate with the MS, the major you select should be for the MS, not the PhD.)

Starting with Spring 2015, the University of North Texas at Dallas will process all graduation applications for students who have declared UNT Dallas as their home campus. Please contact the UNT Dallas Registrar’s Office for further information and instructions by visiting http://www.untdallas.edu/registrar, or calling 972.780.3664.

Want to Know the Status of your Application?

The Graduation Office manually processes 1000+ graduation applications each semester. In processing these applications, we verify many key items for each student. If you would like to know if you are on the track to graduation, please ask yourself the following questions:

  • Am I admitted to the program that I have applied to graduate from?
  • Do I have an approved degree plan on file with the Graduate School?
  • Have I completed all of the coursework listed on my degree plan?
  • Have I finished the courses that I received an incomplete in? Has my department submitted a grade change for the course(s)?
  • Have I at least scheduled my comprehensive exam, defense date or project evaluation (depending on your program/degree plan)? Will my results be sent to the Graduate School by the deadline located on the Graduation Calendar (see below)

If you are able to answer “yes” to all of the questions listed above, you are on track to graduate! All you need to do is purchase your regalia from the Barnes and Noble Bookstore and wait for your Graduation Clearance email. We will see you at the commencement ceremony!

If you have 1 or more pending items on the list above, please contact the Graduation Office via email (graduation@unt.edu) and explain the details of your situation and how/when you will be taking care of it. This will allow us to better assist you.

The Graduation Office welcomes you to ask any specific questions regarding any of the items listed above; however general questions regarding the status of your application only serve to delay processing, which keeps us from sending the Graduation Clearance email that you are so anxiously awaiting! Thank you for your patience as we give each student the same time and consideration.
