Karen Shumway, PhD, has been named Dean of the School of Business at the University of North Texas at Dallas. The appointment is effective January 2015.
Currently serving as associate dean of the College of Business at Angelo State University, Shumway has served in a number of roles since 2001. Prior to that, she held academic positions at Robert Morris College and the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also served in management at Senn-Delaney Management Consultants and Prudential Property & Casualty Insurance Company.
Shumway holds a doctorate in management with a specialty in ethics from the University of Illinois, Chicago; a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago; a master’s certificate in information security from Villanova University; and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Northwestern University. She also serves as trustee and chair of the Education and Technology Committee, as well as a member of the Board of Trustees, at Robert Morris University.

The Southern area of the county is poised to explode with new business opportunities, and Dr. Shumway is the leader we need to develop new programs such as forensic accounting that will address Dallas’ burgeoning economy.”
