US 59 South/IH 610 West Interchange Reconstruction

Existing Conditions

The US 59/IH 610 Interchange is a major connection point of two extremely busy highways serving the greater Houston Area and beyond.  In the vicinity of the interchange, US 59 provides access to Inner Loop developments and downtown Houston (to the north) and residential/commercial developments (to the south.)  IH 610 is a loop circling downtown Houston and the west portion of the Loop in the vicinity of the interchange provides access to Memorial Park, the highly developed Galleria area, and the City of Bellaire.  

Proposed Improvements

The interchange improvements are planned to take place in three phases, consisting of the following:

Phase One

  • Construct IH 610 SB to US 59 NB Connector (CSJ 0271-17-145)
  • Construct IH 610 NB to US 59 SB Connector (CSJ 0271-17-146)
  • Construct US 59 NB to IH 610 SB Connector (CSJ 0027-13-206)
  • Construct Westheimer Ramp to US 59 SB
  • Construct US 59 SB Exit Ramp to Chimney Rock
  • Construct Realigned Post Oak Blvd with METRO Accommodations
  • Realign IH 610 SB to US 59 SB Connector
  • Restripe IH 610 NB to US 59 NB Connector  

Phase Two

  • Reconstruct US 59 NB to IH 610 NB Connector
  • Reconstruct US 59 SB to IH 610 SB Connector  

Phase Three

  • Reconstruct IH 610 Main Lane Bridge
