The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Houston District and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) propose to reconstruct and reconfigure SH 36 / US 90A at the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Crossing and the One-way Pair (Avenues H and I).

Current Conditions

Currently, SH 36 / US 90A passes under UPRR tracks, and Avenues H and I are two-way roads (or bi-directional).

Proposed Improvements

  • Elevate the intersection of SH 36 with US 90A to cross over the UPRR.
  • Change the traffic direction for SH 36 / US 90A (Avenue H) to one-way, westbound traffic through downtown Rosenberg.
  • Change the traffic direction for FM 1640 (Avenue I) to one-way, eastbound traffic through downtown Rosenberg.
  • Construct an at-grade crossover between Louise and Damon Streets.

The project would require approximately 8.5 acres of additional right-of-way and would impact multiple owners, including possible displacements of a residence, a church and several businesses.

Partners

This study is a partnership between TxDOT and the Federal Highway Administration.
