Support for Veterans

The Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) welcomes and supports employees who serve or have served in U.S. state or national military units. TTI provides employment protections, rights and benefits to employees who serve our country. Federal laws, state laws, and A&M System and TTI policies and procedures apply to all leave for military service.

The A&M System established a Systemwide Military-Friendly Initiative for its 11 universities, seven state agencies and health science center.  In 2010, TTI formed a Military-Friendly Task Force of employees who are veterans or active duty in the military reserve. The purpose of the task force is to seek ways to support our veteran employees who have previously served or are currently in the military reserve.

TTI has recognized its veteran employees at its all-employee annual meeting. The task force has organized care packages for deployed employees and children of employees. In 2009, TTI was recognized with the “Above and Beyond Award” by the National Committee for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.  In 2010, TTI was nominated for the Freedom Award in recognition of the Institute’s exemplary support of guard and reserve employees.

See the News section for more information on TTI’s military-friendly activities.
