  • Gov. Perry Appoints Deason and Whiteker to Texas Select Committee on Public School Finance Weights, Allotments and Adjustments
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Switzer Deason of College Station and Mary Ann Whiteker of Lufkin to the Select Committee on Public School Finance Weights, Allotments and Adjustments, pursuant to House Bill 3646 of the 81st Legislature, for terms to expire at the pleasure of the governor. The committee will conduct public hearings to create a comprehensive review of weights, allotments and adjustments under the public school finance system to assist the state in identifying and reaching the goals and objectives set for Texas public education.
     
  • Gov. Perry Appoints Kyker to the Credit Union Commission
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Robert “Rob” Kyker of Richardson to the Credit Union Commission for a term to expire Feb. 15, 2015. The commission supervises the Credit Union Department, which regulates all credit unions organized and chartered under the laws of the state of Texas.
     
  • Gov. Perry Names Vandergriff Chair and Appoints Eight to Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Board
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has named Victor Vandergriff of Arlington chair of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Board and appointed eight members to the board, pursuant to House Bill 3097 of the 81st legislative session. The board will administer and enforce statutes relating to certificates of title and registration of vehicles, identifying markings on commercial motor vehicles, motor carrier registration, single state registration, motor transportation brokers, foreign commercial motor transportation, sale or lease of motor vehicles, and salvage vehicle dealers.
     
  • Gov. Perry Appoints Rose to the 353rd Judicial District Court
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Jeff L. Rose of Austin to the 353rd District Court of Travis County for a term to expire at the next general election.

  • Gov. Perry Names Bradley Chair of the Texas Forensic Science Commission
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has named John M. Bradley of Georgetown chair and appointed Norma J. Farley of Harlingen to the Texas Forensic Science Commission for terms to expire Sept. 1, 2011. The commission oversees professional conduct in forensic laboratories and facilities in Texas.
     
  • Gov. Perry Grants Pardon for Innocence to Woodard
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today granted a pardon for innocence to James Lee Woodard after DNA testing proved he did not sexually assault or murder Beverly Ann Jones in 1980. DNA testing was not available at the time the crime was committed.
