1. Where is the Library located?: The Southlake Library is located on the 1st floor of Town Hall, in Southlake Town Square.

4. How do I get a Southlake Public Library card?: Southlake residents must present proof of a residence address or property ownership (Texas driver's license, utility bill, tax statement, etc.) to obtain a card. Children less than 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent / guardian to obtain a library card. Nonresidents may obtain a library card for an annual fee of $25 per card per person or may obtain a free TexShare card from their local participating library.

5. Is there a book drop outside the library?: The library now offers three convenient locations for book drops.

Our drive-up book drop is designated for all library materials and is located between Tyler's and the west parking garage.

Additionally, two book drops are located on the north side of Town Hall, across the street from Origins. One is designated for books, and the other is for audio / visual materials (videos, kits, audio books, cassettes, DVDs and CDs).

We have an off-site book drop located in the lobby of the DPS west facility located at 2100 West Southlake Boulevard. And we have an after hours bookdrop in the lobby on the 1st Floor of Town Hall.

6. How long can I keep the items I check out?: Books and books on tape / CD can be kept for 14 days. Music CDs, audio cassettes, DVDs and VHS tapes can be kept for 7 days.

7. How can I renew items that are checked out to me?

Materials can be renewed until they are requested by another customer. You can renew your materials in several ways.

Renew Online - Log into My Account on the Library's website using your library card number and the last 4 digits of your phone number.

Text to Renew - Text your name and request to the Library at (817) 685-8100 for renewals.

9. How can I get information on Library news and events?: The Library provides a variety for communication formats for customers. You can pick up a monthly print newsletter in the Library, subscribe to the Library's monthly eBlast newsletter, read articles from the Library on MySouthlakeNews.com under Community, follow the City of Southlake on Facebook and Southlakelib on Twitter. You can also call the Library at 817-748-8243 to ask questions. Southlake Library

10. How can I request and reserve materials?: Contact the Circulation Desk at (817) 748-8243 or make requests by logging into My Account on the Library's webpage. Use your library card number and the last 4 digits of your phone number to log on. Customers with materials on hold will be notified by email or phone and will have 3 days to pick up the item at the Circulation Desk.

11. Can my child get a library card?: Parents/guardians may complete an application form for each child in their family.

12. Can I use my Grapevine, Keller, etc., card at the Southlake Library?: We only accept Southlake Public Library cards. You may choose to get a card with us by purchasing a non-resident card for $25 annually or by participating in the Texshare program. Texshare libraries in the immediate area include Dallas, Fort Worth, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, North Richland Hills, and Roanoke . Grapevine and Keller are not Texshare libraries.

13. Who is eligible for a Southlake Library card?: You may get a free Southlake Library card if you are a:
Southlake resident;
CISD student or employee;
City of Southlake employee;
Southlake Chamber of Commerce member; or a
Texshare cardholder.

14. What is the maximum number of items I can check out?: You may check out up to 36 items per library card. There is a limit of 3 DVDs, 3 VHS tapes, and 3 CDs per card. Books and audiobooks are checked out for 2 weeks. DVDs and CDs are checked out for 1 week. You must be at least 18 years old to check out movies and 16 years old to check out CDs.

17. Does the Library have study rooms?: The Library has 2 study rooms which hold 2-4 people and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. They can be reserved for a period of 2 hours by calling ahead. A Southlake Library card is required. Please contact the Reference Desk at (817) 748-8247 for assistance.

18. Does the Library have a meeting room?: The Library's meeting room seats 10 people. Room use is limited to 2 hours unless prior arrangements are made. A Southlake Library card is required. Please contact the Reference desk at (817) 748- 8247 for reservations and more information.

19. Is there internet access in the Library?: Free Wifi is available at the Library. Connect to SLKGuest. Public access computers are also available in the Library. Before using the computers, please sign in at the Reference Desk. A Southlake Library card must be presented. People under age 13 who wish to use the Library's computers (other than the Library's catalog) must have a parent or guardian present. A Southlake Library card is required.
Wireless internet is also available at the Library. No login is required. Launch your browser and connect to SLKGuest.

20. What business machines are available at the Library?: The Library offers computers with Microsoft Office software and access to a printer. A photocopier is also available. Printing costs are 15 cents per page on all printers and copiers.

21. Can I type my school paper or resume in the Library?: Microsoft Office programs are available on all of the public computers. You may use a flash drive with all computers. It is advised to save your paper/resume to a flash drive or in electronic format to your personal email files before leaving the Library. Documents saved to the desktop will be lost when the machine is shut down. You may print your paper/resume in the Library. Printing costs are 15 cents per page.

22. Are computer games available?: Some computer games are available via the Internet.

23. What type of items are in the Library's collection?: The Library offers books, audiobooks on CD, eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, Great Courses, DVDs, music CDs, Playaways, Playaway Views, magazines, business journals, online research databases, online children's books, and more.

24. Does the Library accept donations?: The Library depends on donations from generous citizens and businesses to offer high quality materials and programs. See our Donate page for more information on how you donate time, money, and materials to the Library.
