The Alliance to Save Energy advocates a bold but achievable goal of doubling energy productivity in the U.S. by 2030 (getting twice as much economic output from each unit of energy).
Energy 2030 seeks to galvanize action at the federal, state, and local levels of government, as well as in the private sector, by engaging stakeholders in a national, shared commitment to doubling U.S. energy productivity by 2030.
Save $327 billion annually in avoided energy costs
Create 1.3 million jobs
Reduce imports to represent a mere 7% of overall energy consumption
Lower greenhouse gas emissions to 1/3 below the level emitted in 2005

The Energy 2030 On the Road campaign arrived in the Lone Star state today for the seventh event stop in Fort Worth, Texas. By traveling from city to city across the nation, the initiative is garnering endorsements from local stakeholders to double U.S. energy productivity by the year 2030.

The Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a final rule establishing criteria for federal agencies that choose to employ green building rating systems (RIN 1904 – AC13). The rule covers new construction and major renovations of federal buildings — including certain residential construction — of $2.5 million or more begun on or after October 14, 2015. The rule does not specify use of any particular certification system, but rather establishes criteria that promote energy efficient building designs and that focus on energy and water management.
