Texas Digital Newspapers Feed Historical Research on Slavery

Historical researchers from several universities are using primary source material from Texas digital newspapers to study slavery in the years before the Civil War. One innovative project places runaway slave advertisements on Twitter and then links back to the newspapers to provide context.

Texas Digital Newspaper Program: Two Million Pages Preserved

Recently, the Texas Digital Newspaper Program (TDNP) reached two million pages of Texas newspapers on The Portal to Texas History.  Made digitally available from microfilm, physical pages, and PDF e-print editions, the newspapers offer a glimpse into daily life in Texas from 1829 to the present.

    The Thanksgiving Break hours begin on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 when Willis Library will close at 7:00 p.m. We will reopen for normal 24-hour service on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
