About the Beneficiary and the Cause:
Each year, the DAYL Leadership Class seeks to positively impact the City of Dallas through a class project. The 2013 Leadership Class is dedicated to fight against blight in Dallas’s urban neighborhoods by partnering with Economic Partners Investing in Communities (EPIC). EPIC has brought together the collective strengths and leadership of visionary philanthropist Toni Brinker, Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, the Dallas Police Department, Mayor Rawlings’s GrowSouth Initiative, and Safer Dallas, Better Dallas, to focus attention on the critical issue of revitalizing the Dallas community. EPIC was formed to bring together organizations that are already working throughout Dallas and help them combine resources to reduce the more than 100 square miles of blighted neighborhoods, which is 16% of the city. Funds raised through the DAYL Charity Ball will fund EPIC’s ongoing research into urban renewal, and support EPIC’s crucial revitalization efforts.
