TERLINGUA, Texas -- A body has been found in a West Texas home in the search for the mother of a woman imprisoned for stealing her late father's federal benefits.

Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson says authorities were contacted by an attorney for Judith Broughton of Terlingua, whose mother has been missing for several months.

Deputies found a body Wednesday under the floorboards of Broughton's home. Authorities are trying to identify the person.

Broughton was sentenced last month to 10 years after earlier pleading guilty to stealing Social Security benefits deposited into an account she shared with her father, who died in 1990.

She had leased a storage unit in Lexington, Kentucky, where her father's remains were found in January.

Authorities say Broughton also had access to an account into which her mother's benefits were deposited.
