Jay-Z Adds ‘Ace Of Spades’ Champagne to Growing List of Corporate Ventures

“I’m not a businessman, I’m a business, man!”
Jay-Z’s endlessly quotable line from “Diamonds Of Sierra Leone (Remix)” gets realer by the year. The esteemed mogul (who dabbles in rhythmic speech recordings in between aggressive corporate ventures) just bought Armand de Brignac, the champagne company whose distinctive label has earned it the nickname “Ace Of Spades.”
Jay-Z has long featured the bottles in his music videos, dating back to his 2006 clip for “Show Me What You Got.” In 2012, Jay-Z and Beyonce held a fundraiser for Obama at which a pyramid of 250 Ace of Spades bottles were displayed, worth $280,000.
In an interview with Idio Mag, Jay-Z stated that “my brands are an extension of me. They’re close to me.”
Besides his recent acquisition, Jay also co-owns the 40/40 nightclub chain and Rocawear clothing, and is a major investor in Carol’s Daughter, a line of beauty products.
