Houston (CBS Houston) – Arian Foster has every intention of playing against the Cleveland Browns.
“That’s the plan,” said Foster when asked about possibly taking the field against the Browns after the bye week.
Foster left the Texans loss with what appeared to be a hamstring injury. He declined to go into specifics on his healthy but on Sunday, as he smashed his helmet down while leaving the field, Foster looked to be more than just dinged up.
Foster is the leading rusher in the AFC with 822 yards and second only to DeMarco Murray of the Cowboys in the whole NFL. Foster has also played one fewer game than Murray and wasn’t healthy against Buffalo where he managed just six yards.
He has also been a big factor in the Texans passing game. Foster is third in almost every receiving category behind Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins
The Texans quarterback change could change the way Foster is used, but he isn’t worried about lining up behind Ryan Mallett.
“He’s a good guy,” Foster said. “He’s a hard worker. I think he’ll be alright.”
Foster didn’t go much further on Mallett’s new role as starter.
“My feelings don’t matter,” he said.
If his feelings don’t matter, the only feeling that does matter for Foster is that he is feeling ready to go against the Browns a week from Sunday.
