To protect the public interest in exploration and development of Alaska's valuable oil, gas, and geothermal resources through the application of conservation practices designed to ensure greater ultimate recovery and the protection of health, safety, fresh ground waters and the rights of all owners to recover their share of the resource.

Title 20, Chapter 25 of the Alaska Administrative Code, dealing with Oil and Gas regulations, including the following:
- 20 AAC 25.022(a) Notice of ownership, 20 AAC 25.030 Casing and cementing,
- 20 AAC 25.055 Drilling units and well spacing, 20 AAC 25.065(c)(1) Hydrogen Sulfide,
- 20 AAC 25.071 Geologic data and logs, 20 AAC 25.110 Suspended wells,
- 20 AAC 25.265(d)(4) Well safety valve systems, 20 AAC 25.270 Initial reservoir properties,
- 20 AAC 25.280(g) Workover operations, 20 AAC 25.537(a)(3) Public and confidential information, 20 AAC 25.556 Orders, and 20 AAC 25.990 Definitions.
The proposed changes are in response to AOGCC’s periodic regulation reviews. In general, the proposed modifications aim to update and clarify the requirements, improve understanding, and streamline the implementation of the regulations.
