Toyota made a grand entrance to North Texas on Monday, holding a neighborhood party called "Hello Texas" to introduce itself to the neighbors in Plano.
On hand were dignitaries such as Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Olympic gymnastics gold medalist Nastia Liukin, a Plano native, who helped the automaker announce that it was donating $1 million to the Plano Academy High School.
Toyota CEO Jim Lentz said the new 100-acre campus near the J.C. Penney campus in Plano will improve his business "from the ground up."
KDC Development CEO Steve Van Amburgh said no general contractor has yet been hired for the Toyota project and that firms are still being interviewed.
Staff writers Candace Carlisle, Korri Kezar and Bill Hethcock contributed to this report.
