Golf: Ryan, Northwest win tournament

The Justin Northwest Texans and the Ryan Lady Raiders took the team titles Monday at the G. Thomas Swenson Memorial Scholarship Tournament at Denton Country Club.

Northwest won the boys division by shooting 321, while Guyer finished second at 324 and Ryan was third with a 338.

The Lady Raiders won the girls division with a 396. Tournament host Denton was second at 412 and Carrollton Ranchview was a distant third at 442.

Northwest’s Haron Guanlao took boys medalist honors by shooting a 76, one stroke ahead of Guyer’s Kyle Hodges (77). Ryan’s Ryan Zimmer finished in fourth place at 80, and Guyer’s Garrett Underwood was fifth at 81.

Other top scores for Guyer were Jeremiah Earler at 82 and Brady Hanley at 84.

Following Zimmer on the Ryan squad were Cody McBee (83), Joannis Cristales (87) and Connor Tedrick (88).

The Denton boys had a total score of 379, led by Cooper Durrett and Javier Gerona with 90s, Patrick Mercer at 98 and Jake Sahonick with a 101.

Marisa Delgado of Keller Central was the girls medalist with a round of 85. Ryan’s Kim Juel and Haley Dvorak finished tied for second at 92, while Denton’s Lindsey Heal and Marisa Cervantes tied for fourth at 99.

Rounding out the Ryan squad were Augusta Scott and Morgan Stafford at 106. Denton’s Stephanie Mobley finished with a 100 and Ann Patterson had a 114.
