The University of Georgia’s top running back, Todd Gurley, has been suspended by the NCAA for four games as punishment for accepting money from memorabilia dealers.

Of course, UGA will appeal the decision.

Gurley will also be required to pay some of the moneyhe accepted to charity and complete 40 hours of community service. Both of these must be done prior to his reinstatement to the team.

If these conditions are met he would then be available for the UGA vs Auburn game that will take place on November 15th. That is a home game for Georgia.

The NCAA has agree to review UGA’s appeal “this week”, so there is a slim chance that Gurley could be available for Saturday.

Winning the appeal doesn’t seem likely because the NCAA stated, “Additional withholding was strongly considered because the violations occurred over multiple years with multiple individuals and the student received extensive rules education about the prohibition of receiving payment for autographs.”

The NCAA continued, “However, the university’s due diligence in its investigation and the student’s full disclosure of his involvement in the violations were factors in not imposing a more severe withholding condition.”

The Dawgs will be fine for Saturday either way with freshman Nick Chubb running like a pro while filling in for Gurley.
