The Brief: Early Voting Totals Up on First Day
The Big Conversation
Here are some dispatches from around the state on the first day of early voting:
• The number of ballots cast was up 20 percent in Harris County — the state's most populous — over the previous non-presidential election four years ago. The reason, reports the Houston Chronicle's Theodore Schleifer, is a concerted effort by both parties to boost mail-in ballots.
"Democrats made a coordinated vote-by-mail program a priority this cycle for the first time, partially because the new, tough voter ID law does not impact absentee balloting. The law's reinstatement over the weekend may disqualify potential ...

It's interesting how someone drove to the polls, but when it comes to identification, they don't have a drivers license: "......... a 58-year-old campaigning for Democrats near the Palm Center early voting location, tried to vote Monday afternoon, but was turned away when she forgot her driver's license. Fedayeen said she was disappointed and will vote tomorrow with her license."
Funny how this hasn't stopped voting like the dems were so worried about, yet to get into one of their meetings, they require photo IDs.........just saying!

Maybe it's because you may be a paid employee of the Republican Party with a video camera hired to learn what the Democratic meeting is about. With Republicans It is a long practiced Republican tactic. Recorded statements in the last few years have shown both sides engage in this behavior.
Republican, big money sponsored candidates still have their little exclusive planning sessions in towers on the 30th floor behind closed doors. Democrats usually meet more in the open and I've been to lots of meetings and events nearly everyone public. Republicans nearly always have someone at the public events and following candidates everywhere, usually recording everything with a audio / video camera. Your not fooled. The woman you mentioned can afford to make another trip. This was the first day of early voting. Had it been 6:00 PM on November 4th her provisional ballot, had she filled one out, would likely not gotten counted.

"Fool Me" You make a hasty assumption here that this person drove. What if they took a bus or public transportation. The Palm Center is in the middle of a neighborhood that relies heavily on the bus system but is also very walkable. You don't really know anything about the person who made this statement and yet you assume that they have done something wrong, illegal or misleading.
A city as large as Houston has so many different and great communities that work differently. You should consider exploring them more. The community where the palm center is is rich in history.

I've been to quite a few Democratic meetings--never had to show an ID to do so....
