Collection of residential storm debris continues

Posted Oct. 24, 2014

The city is continuing to collect tree and yard debris as a priority following the damage caused by the early October storm. Additional trucks have been brought in and are assisting Waste Management's normal bulk collection trucks.

Current status of bulk collections

Bulk collections scheduled for the week of the third Monday of the month: Collections have begun. The balance of the routes in this area will be collected beginning Oct. 27. It is anticipated that all bulk from this area (areas normally collected during the week of the third Monday of the month) will be collected before Oct. 31.

Bulk collections scheduled for the week of the fourth Monday of the month: Collection in this area should begin on or before Oct. 31 and may not be completed until early in the week of Nov. 3.

Bulk collections scheduled for the week of the first Monday of the month: Start of collection in this area may be slightly delayed, but all bulk in this area should be collected by Nov. 8.

Yard Trimming Collections – all areas

Yard trimming collections are running as scheduled. Material that can be set out as loose yard trimmings — limbs trimmed to less than 8 feet long and less than 4 inches in diameter — can be stacked at the curb on regular weekly pickup days. Because yard waste is loaded manually, these crews will not be collecting over 10 cubic yard piles.

Residents also can dispose of debris from the October storm themselves at the city's three drop off stations.

For the month of October, the city will not charge for the collection of large tree debris piles that were the result of the storm. Storm debris includes large tree limbs and over 10 cubic yard piles of smaller limbs and other brush.
