A 30-year-old Denton woman has become the fourth person to die of the flu in Denton County, health officials confirmed Wednesday.

The woman, who had received a flu shot, had no underlying medical conditions, according to Sarah McKinney, a spokesperson for the Denton County Health Department.

Two elderly people and one child from Denton County have died from flu-related causes this flu season. They include an 80-year-old Highland Village woman with underlying health issues, and a man in his 70s and a 13-year-old girl, both from Carrollton.

Most of the flu reported in Denton County is the H1N1 strain, known as swine flu.

The Centers for Disease Control said Texas is one of a handful of states with "high" activity of influenza-like illnesses.
