State of Delaware - Attorney General Beau Biden

Attorney General Biden announced Aug. 21 that he has secured $45 million for Delaware and millions more for Delaware homeowners in a settlement with Bank of America. Biden has secured at least $180 million in mortgage-related settlements.

To give back to those who have given so much to this country, Attorney General Beau Biden and the Delaware DOJ's Fraud & Consumer Protection Division held a Military & Veterans Resource Fair on July 30 at Delaware State University. The Delaware DOJ team helped educate military personnel, veterans and their families on many important financial and consumer protection matters and other issues that military families face.

Attending the opening night of the Delaware State Fair is an annual tradition for Attorney General Beau Biden. During the Fair, he always stops by Big Al's Roast Beef stand to visit with Susan Draper and her family. When she's not at the Fair, Susan works in the Department of Justice's Georgetown office.

Attorney General Biden and Dan Logan, the head of the Crime Strategies Unit, met with Delaware NAACP President Richard Smith and other community leaders on May 21 to discuss ways to reduce youth violence. Penny Dryden, who is the Executive Director of Community Housing and Empowerment Connections, Kenneth Dryden of the Minority Workforce Development Coalition, and Dr. Marlene Saunders, a professor of social work at Delaware State University, and Mr. Smith, exchanged ideas on how to make children safer and strengthen Delaware's communities.

To honor the brave men and women who have lost their lives protecting public safety, Attorney General Biden attended the annual statewide law enforcement memorial at Legislative Hall on May 7. The families of law enforcement personnel also deserve our thanks for their sacrifices. Attorney General Biden visited with Aubrey Spice, whose father, Georgetown Patrolman Chad Spicer, was fatally shot on Sept. 1, 2009, during a traffic stop.

Every year Delaware's law enforcement community raises money for the Special Olympics with the Torch Run. Today, the Delaware Police Chiefs Council honored State Police Sgt. Jason Stevenson for being the "Torch Runner of the Year" and Elizabeth Nolan for being Special Olympics Delaware's athlete of the year. Attorney General Biden congratulates them both.

Attorney General Biden joined New Castle County Executive Thomas Gordon on Feb. 20 for the county's annual Public Safety Department Award Ceremony to honor New Castle County's Police, Paramedics, Emergency Call Operators and the personnel in the Office of Emergency Management.

Attorney General Biden held his weekly senior staff meeting at the William Hicks Anderson Community Center on Feb. 18.

Attorney General Biden spent the afternoon of Feb. 7 at the William Hicks Anderson Community Center learning talking to kids about Black History Month and spoke with community leader Tonia Perry Culley about preventing violence in our communities.

To honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Attorney General Biden joined the members of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity's Zeta Rho Lambda Chapter at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover for the chapter's 31st annual prayer breakfast.
