As of November 7, 2011, all qualifying Post-9/11 veterans are eligible to receive a “Gold Card.” Information on this new initiative can be found on the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) website at http://www.dol.gov/vets/goldcard.html or by contacting your Local Veterans' Employment Representative.

• Workers with Disabilities Program (55-b/c) – Under New York State Civil Service Law, Section 55-b authorizes the New York State Civil Service Commission to designate up to 1,200 positions in the non-competitive class for qualified people with disabilities. Section 55-c authorizes the designation of up to 300 positions in the non-competitive class for qualified wartime veterans with disabilities.  

The VR&E VetSuccess Program assists Veterans with service-connected disabilities to prepare for, find and keep suitable jobs. For Veterans with service-connected disabilities so severe that they cannot immediately consider work, VetSuccess offers services to improve their ability to live as independently as possible.
