08/22/2014 - Governor Quinn Announces New Class of Illinois State Police Cadets SPRINGFIELD – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a new Illinois State Police (ISP) cadet class is set to begin in September 2014. Class 125 marks the second cadet class for 2014, and officials anticipate that graduates will report for duty in February 2015. Today’s announcement is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to ensure the safety of all people in every community across Illinois. 08/06/2014 - Governor Quinn Announces State Police to Assist Chicago Police Department CHICAGO – Governor Pat Quinn today directed the Illinois State Police to deploy 40 state troopers to join Chicago Police officers in patrolling four city neighborhoods. The action follows the city’s request for assistance and is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to ensure the safety of all people in every community across Illinois. 07/23/2014 - Governor Quinn Statement on Cook County Board’s Additional Advisory Referendums CHICAGO – Governor Pat Quinn today issued the following statement regarding the Cook County Board’s approval to add two additional advisory referendums to the November ballot. Voters in Cook County will be asked whether the state should require universal background checks for all gun sales and whether the state should prohibit the sale and transfer of assault weapons and high capacity magazines.
