The U. S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida is involved in a number of programs and projects in our community. Some of our major efforts are listed below.
The USAO/MDFL regularly participates in opportunities to engage the local community and promote the special initiatives of the Department of Justice. These opportunities often involve public forums, volunteer projects and special appearances.
Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee
The USAO/MDFL LECC Program involves partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, military, local units of government, educational institutions, and community-based organizations. In cooperation with our partners, the program collaborates to increase the effectiveness of the public safety mission through the coordination of training, task force operations, and related community initiatives.
A top priority of the USAO/MDFL is the protection of children against crimes of exploitation and abuse. To accomplish this objective, the office coordinates with the appropriate federal, state, and local agencies to aggressively investigate, enforce, and prosecute such crimes. The District's strategy also includes active promotion and participation in regional and national prevention and initiatives.
The USAO/MDFL administers and promotes the Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) initiative sponsored by the Department of Justice. This program is a commitment to adequately address and reduce gang and gun-related criminal activity.
The USAO/MDFL is committed to providing support and information to victims and witnesses involved in civil and criminal litigation proceedings in which the United States is a party.
