Camping Information

Family camping is available at Lums Pond, Killens Pond, Cape Henlopen, Delaware Seashore and Trap Pond State Parks. Cabins are available at Killens Pond and Trap Pond, and yurts can be rented at Lums Pond and Trap Pond.

The campgrounds are open from March 1 through November 30, although not all amenities are guaranteed during cold weather. At Killens Pond State Park, you can experience year-round camping at both its camping loops and cabins. Lums Pond State Park's campsites and yurts are also available all year.

About Reservations

You may make a reservation up to 7 months or as little as 1 day in advance of your visit. To assure availability and the best available site, reservations are strongly recommended.

Advance reservations for weekend stays require a two-night minimum stay from May 1 through October 31. Three-nights stays are required for Labor Day, Memorial Day, NASCAR weekend at Killens Pond, and Fourth of July weekend. Your two-night stay may be either on Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday.

You may reserve a campsite for a one-night weekend stay if you make your reservation within 14 days or less of your arrival. However, availability and choice of sites may be limited at that point.

About Camping at a Delaware State Park

Delaware State Parks have a great deal to offer in family camping. Take your vacation amid towering trees near a freshwater pond or enjoy the scenery of rolling sand dunes and sparkling bay waters.

All of the campgrounds provide drinking water outlets, modern shower and sanitary facilities, and sewage dumping stations. Campsites are equipped with a picnic table and may include a fire ring (campfire regulations). Many have electric and water hookups.

During the summer season and in high-use areas like Delaware Seashore and Cape Henlopen State Parks, campers should register for the entire length of their stay, up to 14 days.

Don't Move Firewood!

Help us protect our trees by preventing the spread of harmful insect pests to Delaware's parks and forests. Use the firewood sold at the campground or from local sources near the park you are visiting. Please do not bring firewood with you into Delaware! LEARN MORE
