Shortwave Spectroradiometer and Cimel Sunphotometer

    Newer Older

The shortwave spectroradiometer measures spectral radiance directly above the instrument. Mounted on the cylindrical baffle, the spire serves as a shade to prevent direct sunlight from contacting the outer window of the optical collector (not visible in this photo). The Cimel sunphotometer measures the direct solar irradiance and sky radiance at the Earth's surface. The sunphotometer was the beneficiary of Recovery Act funding.
