I've submitted several pictures related to some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the country that are being built with funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. One is the $800 million modernization and expansion of the vitally-important Interstate 215 through the San Bernardino Valley of southern California. Another is the introducing of additional dedicated lanes to the sbX B.R.T. tramway. But, these images have been removed for reasons that elude me.

Does the group require some sort of extraordinary documentation to ensure that the projects depicted are actually using funds appropriated through the A.R.R.A.? If so, I can't imagine very many individuals, at least, who would be willing to contribute their pictures of all this construction activity, which is often impressive, if the members have to also research the background on each project.

I've personally never seen anything like the 215 modernization, which literally elicits gasps from people as they drive down the corridor witnessing the sheer size of the project. I'm sure there's been nothing like it since the Works Progress Administration.

There is a niggling problem I have, that will keep me from posting any images and that is the phrase in the rules stating "All photographs become the sole property of the Board."
If that is the case, then the photographer has just lost all rights to his/her work.
Furthermore, I find it a bit ironic that you want photos of these recovery efforts, yet you are quite willing to take works of others without compensation. At least during the Depression the government hired photographers to document what was happening around the country. Don't you think the economic nosedive hurt photographers, as well? I'm a journalist and the newspaper I published closed as a direct result of the downturn. I haven't been employed for nearly a year and I can't afford to give my photos away.

It's kind of like a slap in the face, isn't it?
