- In the new read mode, text reflows automatically in columns for easier on-screen reading. Fewer menus mean higher focus on your content, accompanied only by tools that add value to your reading.

- Show your style and professionalism with templates, plus save time. Browse Word templates in more than 40 categories.
- In Excel 2013 each workbook has its own window, making it easier to work on two workbooks at once. It also makes life easier when you’re working on two monitors.
- You’ll find several new functions in the math and trigonometry, statistical, engineering, date and time, lookup and reference, logical, and text function categories.
- The new Recommended Charts button on the Insert tab lets you pick from a variety of charts that are right for your data. Related types of charts like scatter and bubble charts are under one umbrella.
- Smoothly draw, erase, and edit with your finger, stylus, or mouse on any touch-capable device, such as a Tablet PC or a Windows 8 tablet or slate PC. If you need to share your handwritten notes and care about legibility, OneNote can automatically convert your handwriting to text.
- The improved Send to OneNote tool makes it easier than ever to clip whatever you’re seeing on your screen, send a Web page or an entire document to a notebook section, or to jot down Quick Notes that are automatically saved and filed as part of your notebook.
- You can attach just about any computer file to any part of your notes, which stores a copy of the file in your notebook. You can also create or import Excel spreadsheets and Visio diagrams right within OneNote and edit their information in place in your notes.
- Presenter View allows you to see your notes on your monitor while the audience only sees the slide. In previous releases, it was difficult to figure out who saw what on which monitor. The improved Presenter View fixes that headache and makes it simpler to work with.
- No more eyeballing objects on your slides to see if they’re lined up. Smart Guides automatically appear when your objects, such as pictures, shapes, and more, are close to even, and they also tell you when objects are spaced evenly.
- PowerPoint now supports more multimedia formats, such as .mp4 and .mov with H.264 video and Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) audio, and more high-definition content. PowerPoint 2013 includes more built-in codecs so you don’t have to install them for certain file formats to work.
- The People Card collects all the key details about a contact in one place: phone, email, address, company info, social media updates, even whether they’re available. From the card, you can schedule a meeting, send an instant message, or give them a call, making it a one-stop-shop for all communication.
- Your calendar can tell you much more than just the time of your next appointment. You can add your local weather forecast right there in Calendar view, along with current conditions.
- Receive push-based email, appointments, and contacts from Outlook.com, and Outlook.com (formerly Hotmail) - all conveniently delivered right into your Outlook experience.
- Simply type what you need to track and Access uses table templates to deliver an app that does the job.

Note: System requirements are rounded up to the nearest 0.5GB, to be conservative. For example, if we measure an application’s required hard disk space to be 1.99GB, we recommend 2.5GB of disk space. A graphics processor helps increase the performance of certain features, such as drawing tables in Excel 2013 or transitions, animations, and video integration in PowerPoint 2013. Use of a graphics processor with Office 2013 requires a Microsoft DirectX 10-compliant graphics processor that has 64MB of video memory. These processors were widely available in 2007. Most computers that are available today include a graphics processor that meets or exceeds this standard. However, if you or your users do not have a graphics processor, you can still run Office 2013.

What is Office 365 University?Office 365 University is a four-year subscription that includes the latest Office applications, which you can install on 2 PCs, Macs, or tablets. You’ll also get extra OneDrive storage, free Skype world minutes.
Application versions and features vary by platform and device. Currently, Office 2013 for PC and Office 2011 for Mac are available. Publisher, Access and OneNote are available on PC only. Customers with an active subscription will get the newest versions automatically as they become available. Windows 7 or 8, Mac OS 10.6 or later, and an Internet connection are required.When your Office 365 University subscription is in the last year, you can renew your subscription for another 4 years if you still qualify. But you can only renew your subscription once.To activate your subscription, you’ll need to accept the Office 365 University EULA.
Who is eligible for Office 365 University?
Office 365 University is available to full- and part-time enrolled students, faculty, and staff of qualified, accredited higher education institutions. Alumni of these institutions aren’t eligible. Qualified, accredited higher education institutions include Universities, Polytechnic schools, and Institutes of Technology, as well as other tertiary-level institutions, such as colleges and vocational schools that award academic degrees or professional certifications. Restrictions may vary by country. Find out if you're eligible.
How many licenses/installations does Office 365 University allow?
The Office 365 University plan allows you to install Office on up to two PCs, Macs, or tablets, for use by a single person.
How do I know if my computer or devices can run the new Office?
You can install on PCs or Windows tablets running Windows 7 or higher, and Macs with Mac OS X 10.6 or higher. Office for iPad can be installed on iPads running iOS 7.0 or higher. See full system requirements.
Can I install the new Office on my Mac?
The applications available for Mac users and the version numbers may be different from those available for PC users. If you have an active Office 365 Home or Office 365 University subscription, and available installs, you can install Office on your Mac, which includes the Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications. The OneNote, Publisher, and Access applications are not available for Mac. Current Office application versions for Office 365 are Office 2013 for Windows and Office 2011 for Mac. Customers with an active subscription will be entitled to the newest versions when available.
What are Skype world minutes?
You can use Skype world minutes to call friends or family with or without a Skype account on their mobile phone or landline. Just dial from Skype and your friends and family can pick up on their phone. Each active Office 365 Home and Office 365 University subscription is entitled to 60 Skype world minutes per month, which can be used to make Skype calls to phones in over 60 countries/regions.
Your Skype world minutes will be applied to a new or existing Skype account. Each month you will receive 60 Skype world minutes. Your Skype world minutes allowance resets each month. How much OneDrive storage do I get with my Office subscription?
Customers with an active Office 365 Home subscription receive an additional 1 TB of OneDrive storage. They can share their subscription benefits with up to four members of their household, and each member who is added to the existing subscription also receives an additional 1 TB OneDrive storage. This additional storage is not available during trial periods. This additional 1 TB of OneDrive storage is applied to the OneDrive accounts that are linked to the Microsoft account used to create the Office 365 subscription account and any other account (up to four) that the subscription purchaser decides to share their subscription benefits with.
Can people with another Office version open documents I create with Office 365 University?
Yes, a person with a previous version of Microsoft Office can easily open documents created with Office 365 University applications. Office 2007, Office 2010, Office 365, or Office 2013 users can open documents created using the latest release of Office applications without any additional action. Customers using earlier versions of Office may need to download and install a compatibility pack.
