How do I activate my Surface and sign up for a plan?
1. Follow the Setup process. When you get to the "Get Online" screen, choose "Wi-Fi". You'll set up Mobile Broadband AFTER you set up Wi-Fi.
2. Once your Wi-Fi setup is complete, click the "Network Connections" link to launch the AT&T AllAccess app, or you can just launch the AT&T AllAccess app by itself. Once you're in the app, just click the "Activate" link. That will take you to the AT&T website where you can set up a new data plan or associate your Surface to your existing AT&T data plan.
I'm going to travel to a different country; do I need to change any settings on my device?
Check with your mobile broadband operator to learn about international data plan options. You may also be able to purchase a prepaid SIM or mobile broadband data plan from a local operator upon arrival in the country you’re travelling to. If you do neither of these, then you may want to change some settings on your Surface. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap or click Settings. Tap or click the wireless network icon, and under Mobile broadband, tap or click the network you want to use. If Roam automatically is checked, be sure to clear it. Then tap or click Connect. You can also simply turn off mobile broadband, and only use a Wi-Fi connection when it is available.
