Libraries are a central part of the university experience. They are learning spaces created to enable and inspire generations of thinkers. But as higher education expands to meet the new and growing demands of today’s student, we’re seeing a shift in the way university libraries are being used, designed and built the world over.
From the so-called “Berlin Brain” at the Free University of Berlin to the forest-like interior of the University of Queensland Ipswich Library, library buildings no longer look like libraries.
Whether you’re a student, academic or librarian yourself, we want to see the libraries you work and study in – and how you use them. From the traditional to the quirky, share your photos on GuardianWitness to help us document the university library of the present and future. To take part, click on the blue 'contribute' button.
