America Is Pushing Back

The more that some public officials overstep their authority, the more that voters -- and others -- are stepping up and saying, “Stop!”

The 2014 congressional elections represented a collective shout by voters to politicians and bureaucrats to back off.  Way off.

Arm the GI’s and Stop Inviting Tragedy

“Never again.”

Those words are written in five different languages at the abandoned Dachau prison camp, a testimony to everyone who visits there that such an atrocity will never again be tolerated.

It’s wonderful to hear this “never again” kind of determination.  But it defies logic that the Obama Administration refuses to adopt a similar attitude in solving this ever-daunting question:  Why do mass shootings keep occurring in gun-free zones?

Washington State Puts the Lie to Anti-gun Claims on Background Checks

While the liberal state of Washington enacted universal background checks (via I-594) on Election Day, voters did so in a very underwhelming fashion.

“For years, anti-gunners like Michael Bloomberg have told us that 90% of the American public support universal background checks,” said GOA Director of Communications Erich Pratt.  “But now we see it was all a lie.”

Britain Shows Again Why We Are No Longer British

There are a few private gun owners left in England.  What they have to endure shows once again why Americans are no longer British.

To get a gun in England, the burden of proof is on the citizen.  And, no, self-defense is not one of the accepted reasons for wanting to buy a gun.  It doesn’t really matter, because guns have to be kept locked in a safe so they will not be available for self-defense.

Gun-Toting Grandpa Defends Wife, Granddaughter From Rapists In NC Home Invasion

A North Carolina man exchanged fire with three home invaders after they tried to rob his house and rape his granddaughter, reports the Fayetteville Observer.

At his Lumberton home on Monday, Kenneth Byrd, 67, was approached by an individual claiming to have car problems. When Byrd invited the man into his home, he was rushed by two additional assailants wearing black clothes and ski masks.

St. Louis resident shoots man trying to burglarize his home

ST. LOUIS • A homeowner shot and critically injured a man early Thursday who was trying to break into his home, police say.

Police say the attempted home invasion happened at about 1:40 a.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of Helen Street. The area is close to Cass and North Florissant avenues.

The injured man was taken to St. Louis University Hospital after being shot in the face. Police say he was in critical but stable condition.

The homeowner wasn't arrested. The shooting could be considered justified under the castle doctrine, Missouri's expanded self-defense law.

Under the castle doctrine, people who encounter an intruder in their homes or vehicles — or on their property, under a more recent expansion of the law — are given more leeway in using deadly force. The law allows you to use that force without fear of being charged or sued.

In recent years, homeowners who shot intruders have avoided prosecution and, in cases where the suspect survived, the suspect is the one who was charged with a crime. In one case a dead burglar's accomplice was charged.

Awesome: This Politician Just Sent The Thugs Who Tried To Rob Him Running For Their Lives

While plenty of his fellow Democrats are pushing for legislation making it harder for law-abiding Americans to own and carry firearms, Pennsylvania state Rep. Marty Flynn recently found out how important proper self-defense can be.

The Associated Press reported that Flynn, a former prison guard, was walking near the state Capitol building late Tuesday evening when he and another Democrat legislator were approached by a pair of men demanding their wallets. While the events that followed are still being investigated, it is clear that Flynn produced his gun and exchanged fire with at least one armed suspect.

Defensive Gun Use of the Day: Gun Beats Stick Edition

Robbers who use clubs are very dangerous. Broken limbs and cracked skulls are nothing to play around with. And those who wield them often believe that they have to strike their victim to demonstrate their seriousness. In this case, the would-be robber made a mistake in the victim selection process. When choosing a hold-up victim Sunday evening, Bobby Dean Hall chose a CCW holder who drew his gun when threatened. Hall then beat feet, but the armed citizen was able to give a good description to the police, who quickly made an arrest . . .

From al.com:

“I am extremely proud of the good police work that came into play,” Carden said. “They all did an outstanding job and they did it in a safe manner. I’m also extremely proud of the victim whom I spoke with today and thanked for his service.”

It is nice to see Sylacauga Police Chief Chris Carden praise the armed citizen for his service in making the community a safer place. Perhaps this is a trend that will continue. We have Sheriff Clark of Milwaukee County, in Wisconsin boosting armed victims who resist. And we can’t forget Chief Craig of Detroit.

[Video] Armed Bar Patron in Texas Ignores Carry Law, Shoots and Kills 2 of 4 Armed Robbers

What’s the saying? Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6? While we don’t advise people to break carry laws it looks like doing just that might have saved some lives at a Texas bar.

According to KHOU,

Just after closing around 2:30 Saturday morning, four armed men barged in at EJ’s Place demanding money.

Instead, a customer inside the bar, which is located on the 16500 block of Kuykendahl Road, pulled out his gun and started exchanging fire with the robbers. He shot and killed two of them while the other two ran. Once the heated exchange ended, the patron left, too.

“We’re still trying to determine who he is, and why he left the scene,” said Harris County Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Spurgeon.
