The Southern Gateway project, a project of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), is developing long-term transportation and operational improvements in the area. The project is designed is to enhance the regional and national transportation system by increasing capacity, reducing traffic congestion, improving mobility, improving design deficiencies and improving system linkages.
