  1. Texas law requires everyone in a vehicle to be properly buckled up, and that means child safety seats for children under 8 years old or shorter than 4 feet 9 inches. The Click It or Ticket enforcement period runs May 19 through June 1. More info about child safety seat protection here: http://www.texasclickitorticket.com/child_protection.html

I am truly in support of the "Look Twice" campaign to be aware of motorcyclists on the roads. However, as a driver in the Houston area, I have observed on many occasions, motorcyclists doing what they call lane splitting or "white-lining" - using the space between my vehicle and the one in the next lane to move forward in traffic. This is very dangerous, not only to the cyclist, but also other motorists. What are the laws in Texas regarding this type of maneuvering by motorcyclists? It bad enough that that they are not wearing a helmet, but to weave in and out dangerously through traffic is reckless driving.

    •  I am posting sending this information on a sustainability project our team is undertaking at the Port of Seattle. I thought you would find useful information on tools we are using for CSO reduction in the Seattle area. These are updates from our Port of Seattle Terminal 91 installation http://youtu.be/BbgTtB1d1Xw http://www.ecobuilding.org/code-innovations/case-studies/moving-green-infrastructure-forward-mgif-using-splash-boxx-a-portable-bio-retention-planter-box The Splash Boxx team recently received notice from the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) highway runoff program manager that the Splash Boxx system is recognized as a best management practice. It can now be used in projects to treat stormwater from Washington's state highways. Ideally Splash Boxx would be used under elevated roadways, overpasses and bridges near sensitive water bodies.

  8. The Sargent Swing Bridge in Matagorda County was damaged by a barge last night, so holiday weekend travelers in the area should know the bridge will be closed to traffic and plan accordingly. We will provide updates on this page, and also on the Yoakum District Twitter feed @TxDOTYoakum when it has reopened. (4 photos)

  9. TxDOT crews are at Ross and IH-40 in Amarillo. Some lanes are closed there to allow safer movement of traffic while water drains away. Be prepared for some delays at that intersection (but be appreciative of the rain!). Please do not drive through standing water. Turn Around...Don't Drown
From Storm Search 7 Chief Meteorologist Steve Kersh - A Flood Advisory remains in effect for Potter and Randall counties until 1:30pm. Water is over many roads in the city of Amarillo and as this picture from Jeff Faver shows, some people are getting stuck in it. Remember,"Turn Around, Don't Drown!" — with Angel Chozet.

  13. **I-35 Alert**
I-35 northbound mainlanes will be closed in Salado tonight from 7 PM – 7 AM, to allow crews to shift northbound traffic to the new pavement between Salado and US 190 in Belton. All northbound traffic will exit at #286 (FM 248...4) and reenter I-35 just north of FM 2484.

The crossing at FM 2484 will also be closed. Traffic crossing FM 2484 will need to take the frontage road to either Amity Road or Main St. and U-turn.

There will also be a single-lane SB closure in the Salado area this night, so crews can shift concrete traffic barrier.
