TxDOT is planning improvements for the widening of I-35 from the Denton County line to the Red River from four lanes to a six or eight-lane divided highway. Preliminary engineering and environmental work is currently underway. This project has been funded for planning and study development only. Funding for construction has not been allocated at this time.

TxDOT has contracted with Carter & Burgess, Inc. to study needed improvements to Interstate Highway 35 in Cooke County. The purpose of these improvements is to bring the roadway to current standards and to provide for future traffic increases.

The I-35 reconstruction project is not funded at this time. It is still in environmental review and preliminary design. After the environmental document and geometric schematic are further refined, they will be reviewed by TxDOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
