  1. This photo was taken at 10:50 AM by TxDPS Senior Trooper Chris Ray. It is of the runway at Amarillo's Rick Husband International Airport...or at least where the runway SHOULD be. Hold on to your hats because it's only going to get worse. No travel is advised today in the Texas panhandle or south plains due to blowing dust causing low-to-zero visibility.

    •  Hi All, I am a graduate research assistant at UT Austin. I am working on a research to learn more about the driving behavior in general, and electric vehicle driver behavior in particular. Would you please consider taking this 10-15 minute (approximately) survey and share your experience? Link: https://utexas.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_5dvIYjWGOjwQlmd ______________________________________ FORMAL INVITE: Dear Respondents, The Center of Transportation Research at The University of Texas at Austin, in collaboration with the National Science Foundation, requests your help in learning about driving behavior in general, and electric vehicle driver behavior in particular. Please consider responding to this survey even if you do not currently drive an electric vehicle (but we ask that you respond only if you have driven a motorized vehicle at least once in the past year). The survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Your participation is important for our research in general, and to improve the facilities available for electric vehicles in particular. The information you provide will help steer the course of analysis. The responses will be kept anonymous. We invite you to follow the survey link below to participate in the survey. https://utexas.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_5dvIYjWGOjwQlmd You can also access the link from official Center of Transportation Research website: http://www.utexas.edu/research/ctr/survey/ Thank you for your consideration. Please also feel free to forward this survey to your friends and colleagues. Sincerely, On behalf of Jennifer Duthie, PhD Director, Network Modeling Center Center for Transportation Research The University of Texas at Austin

  3. A dust storm warning has been issued today for the Texas panhandle and the south plains until 10 PM. Wind speeds will reach 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. Low-to-zero visibility is likely due to blowing dust, especially in rural and open... areas. Motorists should be aware of possible brown-outs as they travel. High-profile vehicles are also in danger of being blown over by high wands. The Texas Department of Public Safety is advising motorists not to travel today if it's not necessary. Roadways are still open across the affected area, but that could change as the storm blows through the remainder of the day. For road conditions and possible road closures due to this storm, go to www.drivetexas.org, or call 1-800-452-9292. See More
