Weekend Challenge: One Minute of Balance

Hey there, coolheaded creators,

Because the Long Portraits were so beautiful, we're going to double up on this simple and still video vibe. This weekend, try another classic: the One Minute video. It's uncomplicated -- no camera movement, no editing, only existing sound, one minute long. Check out Pierrick's winning video from our last One Minute Challenge:

That's it! Use "Balance" as a thematic starting point for this simple project. Like the long portraits, this video is a fantastic opportunity to think about framing and composition, lighting, and sound. You won't waste much time shooting, so try a few different setups before you submit your final minute!

+ Your video must be exactly one minute long.
+ You must only use existing audio (camera or field mic).
+ Hands off the camera, and no edits other than to choose your minute! If your camera is attached to a moving object, so be it, but don't zoom or pan yourself.
+ Anything goes for your video's title, but tag your video with "1minute" and add this at the end of your video's description: "Created for the Weekend Challenge: vimeo.com/groups/weekendchallenge"
+ Upload and post your video to the Weekend Challenge Group by ***Tuesday, March 18th, 2014*** at 11:59 PM (EST).

Only videos made specifically for this Challenge will be considered.

+ The winner will receive a badge on their video, and free Vimeo Plus account for one year! If you're already a Plus member, you'll get another year.
+ The runner-up will receive an extra 3GB of upload space!

All videos must be approved by the Vimeo Staff before appearing in the Group, so don't worry if your video doesn't show up at first; we'll get to it!

My Camera (BMPCC) shoots Timelapse without any editing required. Straight from the Card, it's a normal viewable video file. Can i use this feature?

Cameron only said "Your video must be exactly one minute long." He didn't say anything about 1 Min Real time?! How would do the audio for that though Jan?

You could shoot the video in time lapse but use one minute of real time audio.

You just have to follow the rules. Anything that's not in the rules is wide open. So if you want to shoot a minute of a GoPro pointed at your face as you do something or time lapse a sunset or the night sky,I figure that would be OK, but if you wanted to for example mount the camera on a bicycle, helmet, or dashboard and video what happens in front of you I don't imagine that would be in the spirit of the challenge.

A lot of commercials are shot like this.

@Graham
Sound from an external Mic is allowed, but well.. i think this is too wide of an interpretation for me and timelapse in general is outdated anyway ;)

@Jan I hear ya. I suppose like Cameron said: "It's uncomplicated".
Looking forward to seeing these!

Mines uploaded - vimeo.com/89382190 - the audio is real time but the video is timelapse. I added a title as well, but I assume this doesn't count as editing? If it does could you let me know and I'll upload it without the title. Cheers!

After waking up at 5AM PST to set up a macro lens and audio recorder for a 9AM EST conference call, here's the raw, post production-less result:
